Jamaican Usain Bolt, who ran the second-fastest 100 metres in history, and world champion Tyson Gay will face off in a 100-metre showdown at the Reebok Grand Prix.

The meet will take place on Saturday, May 31 on Randall’s Island in New York.

The showdown was confirmed less than a week after Bolt ran 9.76 seconds at the Jamaica International Invitational Meet at the National Stadium on Saturday.

The time was 0.02 second off the world record held by Jamaican compatriot Asafa Powell, who is sidelined with an injury.

Gay defeated Powell to win the 100-metre title at last year’s World Championships in Osaka, Japan. He then defeated Bolt to take the 200 crown.
