Ochi robbery suspects held
The police in St. Ann have taken five men into custody in connection with a daring daylight robbery, which left a security guard dead last week.
The dead security guard is Gilbert Davis of Port Maria, St. Mary who was employed to Atlas Protection Company.
Deputy Superintendent of Police in charge of Crime for the parish, Bertram Lee, said the men were picked up over a period of four days.
He said one of the men in custody is also a security guard with Atlas Security Company.
DSP Lee said the guard was among the armoured team that had gone to Island Village in Ocho Rios on June 2.
He said the police have started to question the men and that the interview will continue today.
The police had reported earlier that on June 2, around 10.30 a.m. three guards went to Island Village to make a drop off.
Two guards reportedly went to do the deliveries and left the third in the car with a large quantity of money.
He was later approached by gunmen who opened fire on him.
One of the robbers made off with the car and the money, but was later intercepted by the police in Steer Town in the parish.
