Possible legal action against MIPHONE

Residents in Tatchfield and Mount Zion in St. Ann are seeking to take legal action against mobile telephone provider Miphone.

The action is intended to have the courts compel Miphone to compensate the residents for damage reportedly done to their homes from blasting operations carried out by the company.

Councillor for the Sturge Town division, Winston Lawrence, said \"the residents are upset because the use of dynamites to clear rocks to construct a cellular tower was done without any approval from the Parish Council\".

Mr. Lawrence also claims the blasting was done without the residents being warned. \" I will be asking the Council to ensure that the phone company carries out repairs to the Mount Zion road, which was damaged as a result of the construction work\" added Mr. Lawrence.
