HWT shooting

A 53 year old man who was said to be of unsound mind was shot dead by a security guard in Half Way Tree, St Andrew this morning.



The incident reportedly happened sometime after 4 a.m. near the National Commercial Bank.



The man has been identified as Gerald Powell of Kencott in Kingston 10.



The police report that a security supervisor from King Alarm Limited visited an establishment in Half Way Tree when Powell used a stone to hit him and threatened him with a machete.



The security supervisor then reportedly opened fire hitting Powell.
