Police suspect Clansman gang in Spanish Town double murder
Monique Grange, Gleaner Writer
The St. Catherine North police said they suspect the Clansman gang is responsible for the murder of two female higglers in Spanish Town last night.
The victims have been identified as Tamara Reddy, 32, and her sister, Nadine Cassanova, 36, both of Tawes Meadows in Spanish Town.
Another man, who witnessed the shooting, was also shot and has been hospitalised.
The police reported that the sisters were selling at the corner of French and Adelaide streets in the vicinity of the market about 7 pm when a gunman walked up and shot them before fleeing.
The police claimed the shooting is the result of a gang feud.
They said gang members are not only targeting members of rival gangs, but members of their communities.
Meanwhile, members of the security forces continue to keep a close watch on sections of Spanish Town following the double murder.
The police have also advised against public gatherings in Spanish Town.
They have banned all dances and other public events, and warned club and bar owners to adhere to the 11 pm closing time.
