Finnish gun law call
Finland\'s Prime Minister, Matti Vanhanen has called for gun laws to be tightened after a gunman shot dead 10 people at a school yesterday.
Matti Vanhanen said Finland should consider banning private handguns.
Yesterday Matti Juhani Saari, 22,shot nine students and a teacher at a college in the western town of Kauhajoki, before turning his gun on himself.
He was questioned by police a day earlier after posting a video clip of himself at a shooting range on the internet, but he was not detained.
Mr. Vanhanen said the government will have to consider amending the laws to more carefully scrutinize those who are given gun licenses.
The law reportedly permits 15-year-olds to own guns.
About one million firearms are said to be owned by civilians.
The Prime Minister has declared today a national day of mourning for the persons who were killed.
