Michael Holding joins CPL
Jamaica and West Indies fast bowling legend, Michael Holding, has been appointed Ambassador for the Caribbean Premier League (CPL).
The inaugural CPL will be staged across the Caribbean in July and August.
Holding, now a world-renowned broadcaster, says he is happy to be involved with the CPL because of its commitment to help identify and develop locally produced young players.
Holding was part of Clive Lloyd’s all-conquering West Indies side of the 1970s and 1980s and took 249 Test wickets in 60 matches.
He took a further 142 wickets from 102 One-Day Internationals.
The CPL will feature six franchise players. They are: Sri Lanka spin wizard Muttiah Muralitharan, Ricky Ponting, Adam Gilchrist, Ross Taylor, Mohammad Hafeez and Herschelle Gibbs.
