Pandemonium at Caymanas Park

All hell broke loose at Caymanas Park this afternoon, following the running of the third race.

First-past-the-post CAMPESINO was controversially disqualified by the operations steward and placed second behind runner-up PISCEAN ROCKET.

A 1-5 favourite trained by 14-time champion trainer Philip Feanny, CAMPESINO, the stewards claimed, started a chain reaction from his wide draw, causing PISCEAN ROCKET to be pocketed from his inside draw at the half-mile marker.

Irate racegoers in the grandstand reacted by smashing a glass pane in the North Lounge, which overlooks the grandstand.

Security was immediately beefed up near the entrance of the stewards' box located on the landing of the North Lounge.

Armed police personnel stood guard at the entrance of the stewards' box for the remainder of the racemeet.
