Former premier of the Turks and Caicos Islands, Michael Misick, has been released on bail.
It is understood that the former premier flew by private jet to Providenciales where he was met by a crowd of supporters.
Misick faces charges of conspiracy to receive bribes, conspiracy to defraud government, and money laundering related to his time in office.
He will appear next at the TCI Supreme Court on Friday, March 7, 2014.
The Supreme Court has ordered that the terms of Misick’s bail are not to be made public.
The former TCI premier had been in custody at Her Majesty's Prison in Grand Turk, despite being granted bail last Tuesday.
Last week, prosecutors turned down assets put up by another former premier, Gilmo Williams, on behalf of Misick.
Misick, was extradited from Brazil to the TCI last Tuesday.
Misick will join 10 others who are accused of illegally selling government lands for profit and cut other sweetheart deals to enrich themselves during their tenure in office.
Prosecutors had indicated that in due course an application will be made to add Misick's case to the information against his co-accused, who are scheduled to face trial in the Supreme Court from July 7.
