JDF issues warning to fishers
The Jamaica Defence Force Coast Guard is reminding fisherfolks to have a light displayed on their boats while they are engaged in fishing activities at nights.
The Coast Guard is urging them to desist from setting nets in or near major shipping channels. The reminders come in the wake of yesterday’s deadly incident in the Kingston Harbour where a canoe with three fishermen onboard reportedly collided with a pleasure boat.
One of the fishermen was killed while the others were rescued by Coast Guard personnel assisted by the Marine police.
The JDF Coast Guard says these safety measures can prevent a re-occurrence of similar incident.
