The 2014 Wray & Nephew Contender Boxing Series start tonight at the Chinese Benevolent Association auditorium.

Jamaica’s Sakima Mullings and Revlon Lake from Guyana will contest the opening bout of the series.

The fight will be telecast live on TVJ at 9:30 p.m.

Before the main bout, there will be two amateur bouts featuring local boxers.

The series is in its fourth year.

When it started in 2011, the contest was for middleweight boxers and was won by Rikardo Smith.

Sixteen welterweight boxers, including eight from other Caribbean countries, will be fighting for championship honours.

There will be eight preliminary bouts over six rounds each.

These will be followed by the four quarterfinal bouts, also over six rounds.

The two semi-finals will be over eight rounds each and the grand final in early July will be over 10 rounds.
