Managing Director of the Transport Authority, Keith Goodison, is advising commuters against paying any increases in bus or taxi fares.

Mr. Goodison said he received reports of bus and taxi operators in the corporate and rural areas, who have increased their fares, and the Transport Authority has not approved a fare increase.

According to Mr. Goodison, only two taxi associations have applied for fare increases.

He said the Transport Minister, Mike Henry is currently reviewing those applications.

Mr. Goodison said the Transport Authority would be meeting with the Office of Utilities Regulation (OUR), to discuss cost mechanisms for fare increases.
