UK defies Russia’s order to close regional offices
A diplomatic row between Russia and the United Kingdom has intensified after Britain reopened two regional cultural offices in Russia.
The opening of the offices defies a Moscow order to shut them. However, the UK ambassador to Russia said the offices would remain open.
They were ordered to close last month as the continuing dispute over the death of an agent in London deepens.
Russia accused Britain of intentional provocation and said it will refuse new visas to British Council staff.
