The Auditor General said the Jamaica Urban Transit Company (JUTC) could face legal sanctions for not paying millions of dollars in statutory deductions.
The report said approximately $573.1 million was deducted from worker’s salaries during the 2002/ 2003 financial year.
According to the Auditor General, these deductions were not paid to the relevant collecting agencies.
Mr. Strachan said this constitutes a breach of the law, and could expose the company to possible legal sanctions and adversely affect employees’ entitlement to certain benefits.
