England, trailing West Indies by 149 runs after the first innings of the fourth Test at Kensington Oval in Barbados, will resume this morning on six without loss knowing their chance of a series-leveling victory has gone.

The batsmen at the crease are captain Andrew Strauss on five and Alastair Cook not out on zero.

Yesterday’s fourth and penultimate day belonged to Ramnaresh Sarwan who hit a career-best 291 to lead West Indies to their best-ever score in Barbados.

West Indies, which resumed yesterday on 398 for five, declared at 749 for nine their third highest total on any Test Ground.

England had scored 600 for six declared in the first innings.

Sarwan shared a sixth-wicket stand of 261 with wicketkeeper Denesh Ramdin, who scored 166, his maiden Test century.

Graeme Swann headed the England attack with five for 165 from 50.3overs while James Anderson had three for 125.
