West Indies began their warn-up schedule for the 2009 International Cricket Council Women’s World Cup with a two-wicket defeat to New South Wales today at the Old Kings Ground in Australia.
Electing to bat, West Indies women scored 145 in 48.4 overs and New South Wales replied with 146 for eight off 49 overs.
Afy Fletcher top scored for West Indies with 36 not out, while Stafanie Taylor scored an attacking 32 from 38 balls.
West Indies, which will open their World Cup schedule against South Africa on Sunday, will play another warm-up match Wednesday against England.
