Dean continues to threaten
Weather forecasters are reporting that Hurricane Dean is now a category two storm with sustained winds of about 100 miles per hour.
The forecasters say Dean continues to intensify as it approaches the Caribbean Sea.
At 5’ o clock this afternoon the center of Hurricane Dean was about 210 miles or 335 kilometers north east of Barbados and about 305 miles or 490 kilometers east of Martinique.
Forecasters are also predicting that the hurricane could hit Barbados within the next 24 hours and Jamaica by Monday.
Dean is forecast to steadily intensify as it moves west, threatening the Lesser Antilles as early as tomorrow morning.
Hurricane watches and warnings have been issued for countries such as Barbados, Martinique, Guadeloupe, Dominica, St. Lucia, St. Vincent and the Grenadines, Barbuda, Monsterrat and St. Martin.
In the meantime, Tropical Storm Erin is unleashing heavy rainfall on parts of Texas.
One person has reportedly died and several others injured as a result of the torrential rainfall.
