An autopsy on the body of the late Antigua Agriculture Minister, Charlesworth Samuel, revealed that he died from drowning.

The 69 year old minister’s body was found on a north coast beach last week, ending a 36 hour search.

The autopsy, which was conducted on Wednesday, also revealed that Samuels had suffered massive head injuries that left part of his left side of his brain dead.

Officials said the results would be presented to the coroner’s inquest when it reconvenes.

The late Agriculture Minister will be laid to rest on February 19.

Both houses of Parliament are set to honour the late minister, a day prior to the state funeral during special sittings of the Senate and the House of Representatives.

Samuel’s was the most senior government legislator, having served in Parliament for more than 30 years.
