THE BUSTAMANTE Hospital for Children has received more critical equipment through a donation from international reggae superstar Orville 'Shaggy' Burrell, the man behind the Shaggy and Friends Make A Difference Foundation.

The latest piece of vital medical equipment, valued at $350,000, was handed over yesterday in a ceremony at the health facility.

Lyttleton 'Tanny' Shirley, chairman of the South East Regional Health Authority, said the donation of more than 350 pieces of equipment represents another milestone in the success of the foundation and its continued contribution to the hospital.

"The donation will most definitely strengthen the efforts of the Ministry of Health and the region to achieve the Millennium Development Goal, which is to reduce by two-thirds the mortality rate among children by 2015," he said.

Shaggy, who was absent, reiterated in a statement his commitment to supporting the children's hospital.

"All that we have done and all that we continue to do is with the aim of making a difference, that is all. I am glad every time I am able to make any kind of contribution, or give any kind of support, great or small, and that is our plea to the nation, to give what you can and make a difference," he stated.
