THE CORNWALL College Old Boys' Association (CCOB), Kingston Chapter, will on Saturday confer honours on four past students who continue to carry the school's flag with distinction.

Former Financial Secretary Collin Bullock will be recognised alongside famed medical practitioner Dr Errol Daley, motor race star Doug Gore and Calvin Gray at a ceremony to be held at the Mona Visitors' Lodge, at the University of the West Indies.

Professor Horace Fletcher, dean of the Faculty of Medicine at the University of the West Indies, and president of the Kingston chapter of the CCOB association, said the honourees are worthy of the praises being heaped on them.

Fletcher said Gray will be named Cornwallian-at-large, an honour which, he said, is given to an old boy who has served the school and the old-boy fraternity with distinction. "The others are like national service," Fletcher said.

Persons attending the event are being asked to contribute $5,000, and the funds raised will go towards assisting students with books, as well as strengthening the sports programme.

"It is very important that alumni give to their schools to help with the development of their country," Fletcher said.

He added: "All of us go through school more or less virtually free of cost, and are able to develop ourselves. It is very important that alumni give back. This is why we are attempting to give back to our school and to our country."
