Update: Fire destroys Phil’s Hardware in Spanish Town

Seventy persons are now out of work following a massive fire at Phil\'s Hardware in Spanish Town, St Catherine this morning.



Losses from the blaze are said to be in the region of millions of dollars.



Its reported that fire personnel were called to the scene of the fire sometime after midnight and it took eight units to fight the blaze.



The Crime Chief for St Catherine North, Superintendent Derrick Champaignie says investigators suspect that arson may be the cause as several bottles with flammable liquid and sand were found in close proximity to where the fire started.



While the building was insured, the value of the property is yet to be established.



There were also no reported injuries.
