The son of Belize Prime Minister Dean Barrow faces deportation to his country of birth after serving more than nine years in jail, according to a report on www.caribbean360.com.

Jamal Barrow, better known as rapper Shyne, was released from prison yesterday after serving more than nine years for his role in a 1999 New York night club shooting that allegedly involved Sean `P Diddy` Combs and actress Jennifer Lopez.

But the Belize-born rapper, who changed his name in jail to Moses Michael Leviy and converted to Judaism, now faces a new challenge, deportation.

Representatives for the rapper revealed to MTV News that the Brooklyn MC is being detained by US Immigration and Customs Enforcement at an unspecified facility in Western New York State. Officials are determining whether or not to deport him.

Under US immigration law, a non-citizen who committed a crime faces deportation back to their home land.

The New York State Department of Corrections record show that Barrow, who was released from the Woodbourne Correctional Facility yesterday, is on parole.
