The micro, small and medium enterprise (MSME) sector benefitted from loan disbursements totalling over $2.4 billion last year.

Making the announcement yesterday, State Minister in the Ministry of Industry, Investment and Commerce Sharon Ffolkes-Abrahams said this benefitted over 10,355 stakeholders, while creating more than 8,600 jobs.

Ffolkes-Abrahams acknowledged that some MSME clients are still not able to meet borrowing requirements, but says the Government is committed to providing the necessary assistance to new entrepreneurs.

She says the MSME sector remains an important pillar in the country’s business development strategy and gave the assurance that financing the sector was a major priority for the Government.
