Despite showing signs that he was back to his best, Jamaica’s Oblique Seville again found himself just outside of the medals at a World Athletics Championships.

Running from lane seven, Seville clocked 9.88 seconds for fourth place, in a race that was won by the impressive Noah Lyles.

The United States’ Lyles, known as a 200-metre specialist, said he was going to win three gold medals at these World Championships and began that journey inside the National Athletics Centre with a come-from-behind win in 9.83 seconds.

Lyles time equalled Great Britain’s Zharnel Hughes’ world lead, with the British sprinter grabbing the last of the medals with his 9.88-second clocking.

Also clocking 9.88 was the silver-medal winning Letsile Tebogo of Botswana.

After the race, Seville spoke to dipping too early as the major reason he lost out on a medal, pointing out that he got the start right.

Jamaica's Ryiem Forde was eighth in 10.08.
