The police are keeping a close watch on sections of Central Kingston following a shooting on Tuesday night that left six people injured.

A nine-year old and a disabled teen were among those shot.

Reports are that about 8:50, a white car drove onto Text Lane and turned onto Charles Street.

The Gleaner understands that four men opened fire indiscriminately.

When the gunfire subsided, six persons were found suffering from gunshot wounds.

They were all assisted to the nearby Kingston Public Hospital.

Three of the injured were treated and later released.

Our news team gathered that one of the injured, who was initially reported dead, is admitted in critical condition still fighting for his life.

The Gleaner was told that the two young children were transferred to the Bustamante Hospital for Children.

A resident told The Gleaner that the shooting caught them by surprise because the area has been relatively calm.

“Nothing nah gwan… for a good while now. Party and dem thing deh a keep back so we shock,” the resident said.

The Kingston Central Police Division recorded 13 murders as of October 4.

This represents a 35 per cent decline year on year.
