Private sector should rally with Jamaicans

THE EDITOR, Madam:

In times of great challenge and hardship we must continue, as a people, to uphold the values and attitudes that make us truly Jamaican. It is a time for true patriotism and for us to reach down and pull up those among us with the greatest need.

At our best, Jamaicans power and support the private sector, pushing resources and energy to keep these businesses thriving. Now, with the current economic downturn, it is time for the private sector to rally with Jamaicans. Several companies have made amazing contributions to ensure Jamaicans are able to stay afloat during this time, and I implore others who can to do the same.

It really is the simple things that make the biggest impact, and if we bolster our communities and front-line workers, we will survive this pandemic together.

Let us all do what we can to ensure that we make this time less stressful for even the most vulnerable in society. I hope to see the contributions continue and increase, and that even more companies will follow the example set by those who have already given back.

Hats off and a job well done!
