$13m allocated towards designating two local mountains World Heritage sites

The Tourism Enhancement Fund (TEF) has allocated $13 million to support the designation of the Blue and John Crow Mountains in eastern Jamaica as a World Heritage sites.

TEF says the initiative is in-keeping with its "mandate to enhance the tourism product including developing and safeguarding heritage sites and points of interest."

The project is being executed under a partnership between the Ministry of Tourism and Entertainment and its agencies, and the Ministry of Youth and Culture.

TEF says the $13 million allocation includes $4.6 million, which will be used to finance a trip to Bonn, Germany where Jamaica will defend its nomination at the 39th session of the World Heritage Committee Meeting, June 28-July 8.
