New colour-code system coming for taxis
A new colour-code and sign system is to be introduced for taxi operators in 2016.
The Transport Authority says route taxies should be painted with a black and white checkered strip running along the sides of the vehicles.
The authority says hackney carriage operators should have black and yellow strips.
It says the strips should be about four inches wide.
The regulator says the move is part of continued efforts to regulate and bring order to the public transportation system.
The Transport Authority says the new colour-code and sign system will come into effect by the end of March 2016.
It says there will be no renewal of licences during the 2016 licensing period, which runs from February 15 to March 31, without the colour-coded strip and the taxi globe on the roof of vehicles.
The authority says no grace period will be allowed.
