The Ministry of Foreign Affairs is to write to officials in Trinidad and Tobago for answers in relation to the treatment of Jamaicans in custody there.

The query follows an article in The Sunday Gleaner yesterday, which suggested that Jamaicans who have been detained in the twin island republic are being ill treated.

In a release yesterday, Foreign Affairs Minister, A. J. Nicholson said the claims are serious.

However, he notes that the claims are being made by a nameless, faceless anonymous Jamaican and the side of the Trinidadian authorities is missing from the story.

He says he will forward The Sunday Gleaner article to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Trinidad and Tobago for them to investigate the claims and comment.
