Police intelligence has revealed that tensions are brewing between rival gang members in sections of Spanish Town, St Catherine, which may result in violent flare ups in the old capital.

Senior superintendent from The Counter Terrorism and Organized Crime Investigation Branch (CTOC), Clifford chambers says the tensions are due to what is believed to be efforts by reputed Klansman leader Tesha Miller to regain control of the area since his return to Jamaica two months ago.

Chambers says the police believe that members of the Klansman gang may be trying to garner support from factions of the One Order gang to regain power for Miller.

The police say the Klansman and One Order gangs control close to 20 communities mainly in the Spanish Town area.

However, SSP Chambers says some communities are likely to be impacted by gang wars more than others.

SSP Chambers says the police are asking persons to present information that can assist in the suppression of these gangs which have the potential to increase the murder rate in St Catherine.
