100 trees and counting
In line with its commitment to environmental protection, JPS has undertaken several initiatives geared at helping to preserve the island's natural resources, including its recent participation in National Tree-Planting Day.
Already this year, JPS team members have planted more than 100 trees and will continue to do so.
This is in addition to the maintenance and monitoring of its operations, in keeping with the highest environmental standards, and recognising other time-honoured observations such as World Water Day.
At the same time, JPS has been making significant strides toward the generation of cleaner energy.
On October 22, the Anthony Veder LNG ship arrived with LNG, which will be used at the Bogue Power Plant in Montego Bay, St James.
"This heralds a new day for the production of clean energy and the creation of multiple opportunities in our economy," said JPS in a release to the media.
"The company also looks forward to the construction of the 190MW power plant in Old Harbour Bay, St Catherine which will use LNG," JPS added.
"The company remains committed to pursuing initiatives which preserves the nation's beauty and promotes a healthy environment for present and future generations," the energy company said further.
