The government is now reviewing the country's regulatory and legislative framework in a bid to make Jamaica the country of choice for business process outsourcing, according to the prime minister.

Andrew Holness says emphasis is also being placed on the provision of suitable and reliable infrastructure, favourable doing-business environment, and a high-quality English-speaking workforce to boost investment in the sector.

As an example, Holness said the recent passage of the Special Economic Zone Act was among the measures aimed at modernising policies and processes to achieve greater efficiency.

And he says emphasis will be placed on the training of persons for the sector, including other high-value BPO activities and positions.
