The Jamaica Teachers’ Association (JTA) has rejected the government’s wage offer of a six per cent increase over two years.

The JTA, which represents the majority of teachers across the public school system, is warning that if there is no improvement in the offer by Friday, its action committee will be activated.

President of the JTA, Georgia Waugh Richards, says the vote to reject the government’s offer was unanimous and was taken during a meeting of the association’s general council yesterday.
