Declaring that “Nobody gets left behind,” Deborah Stewart, general manager of Fidelity Motors Limited, outlined a raft of brand accolades while announcing the arrival of five new GAC models to Jamaica. Boasting best-in-class features and industry-leading warranty, the models ranging from sporty, family-friendly, to luxury, are set to meet the needs of the Jamaican car buyerwho wants quality, safety, security, technology, performance, and innovation all wrapped in an affordable package.

Award-Winning Global Vehicles, backed by Local Trust and Service Ranked #181 on the 2024 Fortune Global 500 and honoured by J. D. Power as the #1 Quality Chinese

Brand for eight consecutive years, GAC sold over 2 million vehicles in 2024 worldwide. With joint ventures that include Honda, Toyota, and Mitsubishi, GAC now enters Jamaica through the reach and commitment of Goddard Enterprises Limited (GEL) Auto.

The launch combines GAC’s international strength, the extensive reach of conglomerate GEL which owns Fidelity. Stewart said the introduction of the GAC models brings the dealership closer to its stated mission to be the number one motor vehicle dealer in Jamaica providing quality products and service to our customers at competitive rates, fulfilling customer needs and expectations with well-trained, motivated, and committed staff while creating shareholder value. “Jamaicans have trusted Fidelity Motors for decades, and this launch builds on that trust. With GAC, we deliver solutions suited to our people and our roads. Whether you are a first-time buyer, a professional, a single parent, or a family, there is a GAC for you — all backed by strong after-sales service and great warranty packages,” Stewart said.

Five GAC Models – A Car for Every Buyer

The launch line-up in Jamaica includes the Emkoo, a futuristic SUV that blends bold innovation with refined sophistication; the GS3 Emzoom, recognised as the Highest Quality Compact SUV in China; the GS8, a premium SUV offering intelligence, luxury and performance; the Empow, a next- generation tech coupe; and the AION EV Series, rated the Highest Quality EV Brand in China in 2024.

Every GAC vehicle undergoes more than 4 million kilometres of durability testing before release. The Emzoom and Emkoo vehicles are backed with seven-year 250,000km Bumper to Bumper Warranty and for the Aion EV Series 8 Years / 160,000km Bumper to Bumper and 8 Years / 200,000km for the Power Battery Integrated Electric Drive Assembly.

Not a Regular Chinese Manufacturer

Regional Principal of GAC Motor at Motorworld, Mr Tariq Amjad underscored GAC’s market prowess by pointing out that the brand is not a regular Chinese Manufacturer. “They are known as ‘the Japanese Manufacturer of China’. That high-quality DNA goes into all of our manufacturing producing the highest quality vehicles in the Chinese market,” he said.

Highlighting that all GAC models are right-hand drive, Amjad says there is more to come. “We have several new vehicles coming in the future. From gas to hybrid to electric, including a touch and rugged pick-up truck that is expected to come to Jamaica by mid-2026.”

A high point of the launch was the demonstration of the GAC Smartwatch. “It’s an Android watch that goes to a whole different level. With this watch, not only do you have your calendar, your weather, your WhatsApp messages, you can actually control your car. So you can wind up and down your windows, you can open and close your trunk, you can set off the alarm to find your car if you don’t remember where you parked it. And, of course, the best part? You can start your car, or you can take off your car,” Amjad added.

Amjad says GAC has ensured a seamless after-sales service experience for regional buyers as GAC is the only Chinese Manufacturer that has a regional warehouse in the Americas for the Americans located in Panama. “If for whatever reason, Fidelity does not have a part in stock, we can get parts from Panama to Jamaica in as little as two weeks, only,” he said.

Continued Investment in Jamaica

Alan Bayne, chief executive officer of GEL Auto, while reaffirming the company’s unwavering commitment to supporting Jamaica’s recovery efforts, pointed out that the launch represents more than just the introduction of new vehicles. “It reflects our continued investment in Jamaica, our confidence in the market, and our belief in the resilience of the Jamaican people.”

Through a partnership with Motorworld, the exclusive distributor of GAC Motor vehicles in the Caribbean Region, GEL Auto has now successfully established the GAC brand in territories, including Saint Vincent, Saint Lucia, Barbados, and Grenada.

Raffle for Relief

Pointing out the launch comes at a challenging time for Jamaica, Mrs Stewart shared that the team recently journeyed to the west to provide aid for persons affected by Hurricane Melissa. Fidelity has formed a partnership with the Rotary Club of New Kingston, which will see the dealer donating a GAC model for a raffle in 2026 when Fidelity celebrates 25 years. “One lucky Jamaican will win an amazing ride! The Rotary Club will use the proceeds from the raffle to assist those affected by Hurricane Melissa. This initiative will be officially launched at a later date, at which point more details will be announced,” she explained.

With leadership from GEL Auto and strong after-sales support from Motorworld, Fidelity Motors will manage the GAC brand with full after-sales facilities, trained technicians, and genuine parts, ensuring that Jamaican customers benefit from both global quality and local care.
