The police are investigating the circumstances surrounding what they believe is a murder-suicide involving a married couple in August Town this morning.

The deceased have been identified as Kiron Beckles of 87 August Town Road and Alethia Parry Beckles.

Inspector Stephen Taylor, the sub-officer in charge of the August Town police, says around 10:45 this morning, the police received a call from the relative of one of the deceased for assistance in accessing the premises where the two have been staying.

The inspector says that's when the bodies were discovered.

Residents in the community theorise that a domestic dispute which developed between the couple over a Facebook post is at the centre of the tragedy.

According to the residents, Alethia Parry Beckles was staying overseas but landed in the island on Tuesday to visit her husband when the fuss about the Facebook post developed.

The mother of the deceased man said the couple has a nine-year old daughter currently living overseas.
