IC sends two more reports to Parliament for tabling

Two investigation reports and an indicative ruling from the director of corruption prosecution have been sent to Parliament by Jamaica’s single anti-corruption body.

The Integrity Commission (IC), in a release yesterday, indicated that hard copies of the investigation reports were submitted in separate envelopes, under cover of identical letters addressed to Speaker of the House Juliet Holness; Tom Tavares-Finson, the president of the Senate; and Clerk to the Houses of Parliament, Colleen Lowe.

The IC said the associated indicative ruling, which is embodied in a second and separate letter, was also similarly submitted.

The anti-corruption entity said it anticipates that its investigation report, which was submitted in conformance with Section 54 of the Integrity Commission Act, together with the referenced indicative ruling, will be tabled in the Parliament as soon as possible.

Section 54(4) of the Integrity Commission Act provides that “where the Report (from the Director of Investigation) to the Commission has a recommendation under subsection (3), the Commission shall submit it to Parliament for tabling … .”

The reports are expected to be tabled at the next sitting of the House of Representatives.
