IC reports await tabling in House

Two investigation reports and indicative rulings from the director of corruption prosecution at the Integrity Commission are expected to be tabled in Parliament today.

The reports and indicative rulings were delivered and signed for at Gordon House at 9:40 in the morning on Tuesday, November 25.

However, despite a five-hour-long sitting of the Lower House last week, the reports were not tabled.

Hard copies of the investigation reports were submitted in separate envelopes, under cover of identical letters, addressed to Speaker of the House Juliet Holness, President of the Senate Tom Tavares-Finson, and Clerk to the Houses Colleen Lowe. The indicative rulings were also similarly addressed and submitted in separate envelopes.

A USB flash drive with PDF electronic copies of all documentation submitted was also conveyed. With the electronic copies, the Parliament is able to upload the reports and dispatch quickly following their tabling to lawmakers and other stakeholders.

In its correspondence with the officers of Parliament, the Integrity Commission said it anticipates that its investigation reports, which were submitted pursuant to and in conformance with Section 54 of the Integrity Commission Act, together with the associated indicative rulings, will be tabled in both Houses of Parliament as soon as possible.

Section 54(4) of the Integrity Commission Act provides that: “Where the report [from the director of investigation] to the commission has a recommendation under subsection (3), the commission shall submit it to Parliament for tabling ... .”
