Phillips gave us the double bird, too

THE EDITOR, Sir:

Any well-thinking Jamaican who listens critically and objectively would recognise that Peter Phillips' so-called apology for flashing in Parliament TWO middle fingers was all a sham. He did not genuinely recognise the utter immaturity and offensive nature of such a gesture coming from someone aspiring to be the next prime minister of Jamaica!

He rationalised all the way, clearly only saying something because it would be politically unwise to not respond to public outcry against such a shameful and infantile display from him. He saw it as simply harmless banter, intending to defuse growing tension in the House.

If that is how Mr Phillips asks for two additional minutes in the House of Representatives, simply because, according to his lame 'excuse', he did not want to use the pro-Labour two-fingered gesture to make the request, all he is saying to us, the watching public, is "F- you!" TWICE.

His behaviour is indicative of the often immature behaviour of the rest of the parliamentarians (on both sides of the House) who often cause the Lower Chamber to descend into chaos, as we saw recently.
