Timeline for UWI tracer study
THE EDITOR, Sir:
I commend your reporter, Romario Scott, for an accurate reporting of my address to the Rotary Club of Kingston and Port Royal last evening, especially as I did not speak from a prepared text.
However, as I had done in my remarks, it is important to point out two things. Firstly, the tracer study of the first degree University of the West Indies (UWI) graduates of 2014 was done in 2016, so the salary levels reported relate to what obtained in 2016.
More importantly, however, I indicated that the survey was not based on a random sample, but on responses from 458 of the graduating cohort of 2,495. Therefore, it may not accurately represent the outcomes for the entire group since those graduates experiencing difficulty may have been more inclined to respond to the questionnaire. Even then, the figures are troubling.
