Not the Hope Zoo
THE EDITOR, Sir:
The Hope Zoo Preservation Foundation is the entity with direct responsibility for the management of the Hope Zoo. In response to D.N.’s Letter to the Editor of February 6, 2019, published in The Gleaner, we are refuting the claims that the event held on February 3, 2019, occurred at the property of the Hope Zoo.
‘Coco Ladies Playground’ was held on the adjoining grounds of the Hope Gardens, Kingston, which falls under separate management and not that of the Hope Zoo Preservation Foundation.
Events held at the Hope Zoo are geared towards family-friendly content. One of the contractual terms prior to renting the Hope Zoo as a venue is to ensure that the broadcast content and decibel level is of an acceptable standard.
It is indeed unfortunate that the residents of Hope Pastures and the surrounding areas were subjected to loud and offensive music on the night of February 3, 2019.
The management of the Hope Zoo property has, over the years, offered entertainment for the entire family and has worked with the surrounding communities to contain the noise levels.
