Campaigning in coronavirus times
THE EDITOR, Madam:
Once again the election gong has been sounded. However, these are not normal times, with the number of coronavirus cases rising again. I now watch with bated breath to see if the powers that be will curtail or cancel campaigning and large election crowds milling about.
Maybe coronavirus might be a blessing in disguise, as Jamaicans may now realise that campaigning really should be done throughout the four years leading up to each election, and not the weeks leading up to one. We all know that millions of dollars are spent during election campaigns – let good sense prevail this time. Both major parties should cancel the town meetings and congregation of people and save Jamaica from a worsened coronavirus plight.
