Stop inhumane separation of hospitalised children from their caregivers
This is a cruel and senseless act. Where is the human in the word humane. The minister of health should come forth on this issue. It’s unbelievable and outrageous in this modern age. – Joan K. Banton-Parchment
Mi prefer sit on a chair at the “hospital weh neva have bed yet”, for 40 days and 40 nights. Not leaving my child there. – August Soigné
Things must change there. My two-year-old was admitted there. I slept on a chair beside his bed; got ready for work, which is in another parish. I did this for a week, then he was discharged and I came for follow-up. – Elease Buddoo
I stayed at Bustamante Hospital in 2003 almost every night for one week, my daughter was one and a half at the time. I had no problem sleeping on the chairs. Nobody didn’t say that I should not stay. – Stephanie Williams
My daughter and her husband had this terrifying experience for three nights but stood their ground. – Elaine Rossi
Whichever party implements the new rule for parents to stay vote for them. We are the government and we have the say. Things like these we block road for, not garbage. – Jhay M Davis
How can we function when the ward is crowded? And when you guys visit, you all wanna talk to nurses and doctors. We have over 30-plus patients on wards. How can we accommodate more than one visitor for each patient? – Noise Pollution
It just goes to show who cares for the less fortunate and their families. – Doreen Nelson
It is the worst experience ever. All they need is one parent/caregiver at a time. – Veronica Mitto
This needs to be in every hospital – Tina Taylor Richards
What a backward policy. Same as not allowing fathers to be present in the delivery room. It’s crazy. – Deborah Williams
Have we stopped to think of the risk we are putting the children in? If every child should be allowed one parent on ward 24/7 imagine how clustered the wards would be. More virus and diseases. – Sweetness English Bunsie
I stand with you 100 per cent on this, babies and children needs mother’s fathers care, more so when they are ill. I cannot imagine not being by my child’s side to comfort him when he is ill or stressed, it is just a job for the doctors and nurses, it’s love and care for us parents. We need to be there for them and us too. – Vasmine Rattigan
