Reconstruction surgery on Jamaica’s body politic

THE EDITOR, Madam:

The composition of our body politic is;

(1) a spine of the courage and sacrifices of our national heroes and freedom fighters;

(2) the organs of our missionaries, icons and celebrities;

(3) the blood of our people’s aspirations and self-determination;

(4) the thick skin of our resilience and fortitude

now all covered by the outer layer of an imperial monarchy.

Let us join together in a process of transformation by the removal of the imperial outer layer. After six decades of Independence there is no reason which is consistent with our national identity and pride why we should further delay this process of transformation.

Let us therefore combine all our hopes and aspirations in carrying forward the desired reconstruction and transformation.
