Logwood residents not fleeing community, says Hanover police
The Hanover police are disputing reports that residents of Logwood where six members of one family were killed last week are fleeing because of fear criminals will return to the area.
Some of the residents who were leaving the community told The Gleaner/Power 106 News Centre that the criminals may return to the area as they do not fear the police.
However, head of the police division, Deputy Superintendent of Police, Artel Colley, says those who left the area did so out of fear of reprisal because of accusations they may have been involved in the crime.
A strong police-military presence has been Logwood since the six people were killed gangland-style and four others injured last Thursday night.
The police believe the shooting had links to lottery scamming although relatives of the deceased deny the claims.
One suspect has been taken into custody while others are being sought.
The police have refused to release specific information on those being sought.
