Increasing consumption taxes to fund income threshold a good move - King

Economist and university lecturer, Dr Damien King, has come out in support of the government’s increase of the income tax threshold.
Writing on his Twitter account, Dr King argued that using consumption taxes, primarily on petrol and travel, to finance the increase in the threshold is undoubtedly a good move.
He contended that with the move the tax burden has been shifted from over-burdened formal sector workers to those who evade income taxes.
