Operators of Sangster International Airport in Montego Bay say severe weather Thursday linked to a cold front forced the cancellation of an American Airlines flight to Miami, while another incoming flight was diverted.

The cancelled flight, AA 2791, was scheduled to depart Montego Bay for Miami at 10 a.m., while JetBlue flight B6 2427, arriving from Fort Lauderdale, was diverted to Kingston, MBJ Airports Limited said.

It has urged passengers to contact their airlines for updates, rebooking, and instructions. Those meeting arriving passengers were also advised to check with the airlines.

The disruptions come as a cold front brings gusty winds and showers across western Jamaica. The Met Office said another cold front is expected on Friday.

MBJ Airports Limited has encouraged travellers to monitor official airline channels and airport advisories for the latest information.
