Fire personnel are conducting a probe to determine the cause of a blaze at the Half-Way Tree Clock in St Andrew this morning.
Public Relations Officer at the Jamaica Fire Brigade, Emelio Ebanks, says his team received a call about 9 o’clock after smoke was seen coming from the tower.
He says one unit from Half Way Tree responded.
Ebanks says upon arrival it was discovered that rubbish in the base of the clock tower was on fire.
He says the unit was able to put out the fire and is now investigating how it started.

Ebanks said the probe will determine whether the fire began as a result of a malfunctioning clock or whether it was deliberately set.
