UPDATE: 3 in custody for double killing at gas station in Morant Bay

The police have taken three persons in custody in connection to the double killing at a gas station in Morant Bay, St Thomas last night.

In a release this afternoon, the Corporate Communication Unit (CCU) of the Jamaica Constabulary Force (JCF) said the names of the persons taken into custody are being withheld until charges are laid.

Dead are 49-year-old Christopher Higgins, otherwise called ‘Chris’, unemployed of North Street, Morant Bay and 22-year-old Katherina Brown otherwise called, ‘Trina’ a cashier of Lyssons both in the parish.

The police report that a man and a woman were killed when three men alighted from a Suzuki motor car about 11:10 and fired several shots, which hit Higgins.

Brown, who was inside the building, was reportedly chased and shot multiple times.

Both victims were taken to hospital where they were pronounced dead.

The gunmen left the scene in the waiting motor car.

However, the vehicle was chased by the police to Mountain View Road in Kingston, where they abandoned the vehicle.

The men then escaped on foot in the community, after firing several shots at the police.
