Police investigators are questioning the driver of the Jamaica Urban Transit Company (JUTC) bus involved in this morning's tragic incident where a minor reportedly fell from the vehicle and ran over.

The driver has been in custody following the incident, which the police say happened around minutes after 7 o' clock in Gregory Park, Portmore, St. Catherine.

The police say information gathered so far indicates that the driver stopped at a bus stop to pick up passengers and then there was a commotion.

It's reported that passengers raised an alarm that the schoolboy fell throw a passenger door and was subsequently ran over by the bus.

A motorist, who was passing by, took the injured student to the Spanish Town Hospital where he died.

In a statement this afternoon, the JUTC said the child was a passenger on a bus which plies the Christian Gardens to Half Way Tree route.

It said the circumstances leading up to how the incident happened remains unclear.

The bus company said investigators from the Jamaica Constabulary Force and its Accident Department are probing the incident, adding that it is awaiting the findings of the police.
