The purpose-driven life: Rick Warren to mobilise Caribbean Church
THE INAUGURAL staging of Impact Caribbean, a virtual Christian mission mobilising and equipping series, will have Pastor Rick Warren as its keynote speaker on its opening day tomorrow at 1 p.m.
Warren, an innovative pastor, renowned author and global influencer, is the founding pastor of Saddleback Church in Southern California with campuses in major cities around the world. He is the author of The Purpose Driven Life.
Warren recently stepped down from his role as pastor of Saddleback to lead Finishing The Task, a movement of 1,600 churches and organisations coming together to reach the unengaged, unreached people groups with the Gospel of the Kingdom of God.
Impact Caribbean is being staged by One Last Push Initiative, headed by Marjorie Scott Anderson, herself an innovator and former country director of Operation Mobilization, owners and operators of the Logos ‘book ship’.
“We have the access and opportunity to see every nation, tribe, people, and language reached with the good news of Jesus in our lifetime,” says Warren. “However, there are challenges and barriers we can only break by working together.”
Scott Anderson opined: “Given the task, and the need to work together, we strongly feel it is time for the Caribbean to no longer be only a receiving field for missionaries, but a sending force. We have a great edge in cross-cultural work because we grow up in multicultural societies, so crossing borders to different peoples is not as alarming for us. We are used to different skin tones, hair textures, and various beliefs, behaviours, languages, and practices.”
She further stated that this is a call to the Caribbean Church to roll up its sleeves and get involved.
The opening day will also see participation from international evangelist and author Angus Buchan, who is based in South Africa. Buchan is known for his novel Faith Like Potatoes, which was made into a movie in 2006 and won the Audience Choice Award at that year’s Sabaoth International Film Festival, held in Milan, Italy.
Sixteen:Fifteen Ministries, a church mission coaching ministry out of New Mexico, USA, will close the opening day by examining the eight keys to becoming a more missional church.
The series was planned in association with Youth With A Mission Jamaica/Frontier Missions Caribbean. Other events will be as follows:
